FILM DIRECTOR

 

Didier Canaux has studied in New York City and has a master in Visual arts.

He is currently working on a documentary about a gypsy family running an old fair attraction called the “wall of death”, the film being narrated by its women. He is also writing a series about planned obsolescence.

His short film “La deuxième vie du sucrier” (the second life of the sugar bowl) inspired by his love of art, and his interest in music and sound, was selected in more than fifty festivals and won many prizes around the world.

After his art degree, he has worked as an artist, an art director, a set designer and a film director. He is sharing his life between Paris London and New York, has lived in Rome for several years and speaks fluently French, English and Italian.

His artwork has been exhibited in many galleries and museums like the New Museum in New York City.

Thanks to his multicultural understanding and visual approach, he has been asked to shoot more than a hundred commercials worldwide for big brands ranging from L’Oreal to Coca-Cola. Doing so he was able to work with the best Dops around and therefore explore various film technics. He is recognised for his strong sense of storytelling and beautiful image composition.
